Wedding Venues help

:)
Hi
My daughter had decided to get married in Palm Springs. Her fiance is from there and she fell in love with the mountains and the desert when he took her "home" to meet his family and friends and to propose to her. We have several problems, One being there are sooooooooo many choices of venues to choose from. We have looked at what seems to be thousands of internet sites offering weddings and receptions and have even requested some information from a few she liked. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. She wants wedding and reception at the same venue, outdoors, in the evening, buffet meal. The will have about 125-150 guests. Another problem is we are not from there. she is living in the south and I live in the Northwest so were relying on her mother in law to be and his friends to recommend places.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi, SunnyMomma!

Good question! But first of all, congratulations - what an exciting time for your daughter and entire family! Palm Springs is indeed a magical place and many feel the same way your daughter do...which is to say, whichever venue you decide upon - reserve it quickly!

Living so far away, my first recommendation would be to find a reputable wedding coordinator who can be your eyes and ears in the Palm Springs area. He or she can arrange the catering, flowers, provide invaluable feedback, etc. - basically all the nitty, gritty work, and save you time AND money.

Secondly, on venues, you need to decide where you want to be. Palm Springs proper? Rancho Mirage? Palm Desert? Indian Wells? La Quinta? etc? All wonderful area with much to recommend them. Shoppers like Palm Springs with its Palm Canyon Drive: http://palmsprings.com/shops/#palmcanyon or Palm Desert with its El Paseo:http://palmsprings.com/shops/#elpaseo Then there are your golfers to consider, foodies, architecture buffs, etc. The Palm Springs area really does have it all!

Some recommendations off the top of my head (where you could host both ceremony and reception) would be the Miramonte, in Indian Wells: http://palmsprings.com/miramonte , the Lodge at Rancho Mirage:http://palmsprings.com/lodgeatranchomirage , or, for something truly authentic, the Del Marcos Hotel: http://palmsprings.com/delmarcoshotel offers a separate, private vintage 1957 Alexander House (spacious house and grounds) available for rental for your daughter's big day!

Best of luck to you both, and most of all - enjoy this very special time!!

Thanks for your Imput

Thanks for your imput .... My daughter called tonight and said that she put in a request for information at the Miramonte.
She had not heard of the Del Marcos and is going to look into that venue also.
Again, Thanks for all your help
