The Difference Between The .....

ARGENTINE TANGO EVERY WEDNESDAY: NO PARTNER NEEDED

Come and find out the miracle of the Argentine Tango:
Make new lovely friends and start a new & enjoyably journey.

A little bit of background:
The Argentine Tango can be divided into two main categories:
- One is the stage/show tango
- The other one is the social tango
The difference between the two categories is huge:

The Show Tango is obviously oriented towards the world and its audience. It is choreographed and tends to be spectacular. It often takes place on stage, where only the show people dance.

In contract, the social tango is danced in milonga* (please see glossary below), where many people can be dancing at the same time. Social Argentine Tango is oriented towards the inside. It is all about the connection between the two partners who dance the tanda*. The dance is fully improvised as there is no choreography. The social tango is about lead, follow and the music. It places a stronger emphasis on how you dance rather than what you dance (simple walk done properly can be more enjoyable than badly executed fancy step combinations).

We are inviting you to come and try it out.
In our classes, we will give you the tools to dance the Social Argentine Tango in a fun & easy way. Our aim is for you to have a good time. You will not have to struggle with lifting, jumping, dragging or carrying your partner weight around. You do not have any previous dance experience? Excellent, you will not have any bad habits!
You think you have two left feet? Come to our class. You may even discovered that you can dance.

Words can hardly convey the excitement and fulfillment that Social Argentine Tango brings to one’s life. Because it creates such a unique feeling it is best to experience it by yourself. So come and try it. You will love it.

When you arrive to the class, ask for Avi or Cecilia and mention the word CORTINA and we will give you $5 off your first class.

Argentine Tango glossary:

Milonga = place where people dance tango
Tanda = set of 3 or 4 songs from the same rhythm, lasts for 9-12 minutes.
Cortina = marks the end of the tanda by a non-tango music which lasts 15-30 seconds. During this time, people clear the dancing floor and take the opportunity to change partner.
